1st Annual MAKE MUSIC DETROIT
official news release
Detroit Joins World Wide Music Celebration
On Tuesday June 21st, Detroit is joining cities in 120 countries across the globe in celebration of music. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Detroit is open to anyone who wants to perform, learn, or teach music. We encourage every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — to pour onto our streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers.
As part of Make Music Detroit, we have coordinated sites around the city to serve as venues to make music. To play and get on the lineup, musicians just need to register their performance on the official website,makemusicdetroit.org. Performance inquiries made before the June 7th deadline are guaranteed performance times. All featured sites, including: Detroit Institute of Arts, Assemble Sound, The Carr Center, Urban Bean Co., Northern Lights Lounge and the Oakland Avenue Artist Corridor, are free and open to all ages. Make Music Detroit is also showcasing the eclectic musical styles of the city with featured performances by The Mosaic Singers Youth Ensemble, RJ Spangler Trio & Larry Smith, Phillip J Hale (PhilHarmonic), CJAM and former-WDET DJ Judy Adams, Metro Times 2016 Reader’s Choice Best Electronic Artist recipient Kevin Reynolds, and Detroit soul/funk legend Amp Fiddler.
Make Music Detroit understands the vital work of music education and strives to provide kids of all ages access to these institutions. Performance spaces are available for youth expression. We wholeheartedly encourage parents to register their aspiring Miles Davis or Beyonce for the event. Parents can also take kids to any of the free music workshops available throughout the day.
Held annually on the summer solstice, June 21, Make Music Day takes place in over 700 cities around the world. Make Music Detroit is a member of the Make Music Day Alliance.
Festivities start at 12:00pm (noon), so go out there and MAKE MUSIC DETROIT!!!

We are very excited to play this venue Downtown Detroit, and we are extremely excited to have Greg Koltyk on horns along with Ken Ferry on Trumpet. This Trio is a MUST SEE. Hope to see you there.
