Unlimited Sky Production Announces the Continuation of the Music Series " Tributes" with The Abbey Lincoln Tribute
Detroit, MI – March 25th – Unlimited Sky Productions is thrilled to announce the continuation of its highly acclaimed Music Series this winter, featuring the captivating performance, "The Abbey Lincoln Tribute," by the incredibly talented Sky Covington. After the resounding success of the debut show, which brought immense joy to patrons, the upcoming event promises an unforgettable evening of Peace and Jazz.
The Preservation of Jazz - Out of the Mouth of Jazz Music Series pays homage to the legendary singer/songwriter, actress, and activist, Abbey Lincoln (born Gaby Wooldridge). Despite flying under the radar for some, Abbey Lincoln's impact on jazz is undeniable. Known for her poetic and straight-forward compositions, she blessed the world with six decades of incredible jazz music.
Sky Covington, a remarkable performer in her own right, is set to take the stage and lead the audience on a musical journey through Abbey Lincoln's timeless repertoire. The evening will showcase Lincoln's early songs such as "Afro-Blue" from her debut album in 1954, as well as later masterpieces like "Throw It Away" (1995) and "Windmills of Your Mind" (2000).
Join us on Thursday evening at Aretha's Jazz Cafe for an enchanting tribute to Abbey Lincoln. Immerse yourself in the soulful melodies and profound lyrics that define Lincoln's legacy.
