The Reality Band

Formally known as Moments Notice a backup band for various local and international recording artists until September 2009 when they decided to add a female vocalist and became a self-contained unit.
 
 BiographyThe Reality Band was originally formed in 1973 by Drummer Mike Kilgore. Due to economical changes and family responsibilities, the band broke up in 1981. The musicians went their own seperate ways. In 2003 drummer Mike Kilgore teamed up with his original guitar
 player Bobby Hill, (Bassist) Jerome Yancy and (keyboardist) Deon Yates to perform as Moments Notice the backup band for Priscilla Price. In September 2009, Deon Yates parted from the group to promote his solo career. Mike, Bobby and Jerome decided to become a self-contained band again.In November of 2009 they recruited (keyboardist) Rick Jones and from that point on became known as

Jackie Robitaille

BIO

Jackie Robitaille is quickly becoming recognized as one of the top singer/songwriters in Ontario. 

Her “ethereal delicacies crafted with classically trained vocals accompanied by expert keyboard techniques” have landed her vocal chords in the esteemed company of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra at the opening of the War of 1812 bi-centennial celebrations and on the stage of New York’s Carnegie Hall. Though it’s her incredible song writing skills that have captured the attention of those with whom she’s shared the stage including Kathleen Edwards, Alex Cuba and Ashley MacIsaac with whom Robitaille performed at the 2011 Shores of Erie International Wine Festival, in Gaelic.

The Jazz Cafe was filled to capacity and the whole evening was too perfect to describe. ILL way to end 2012...To start the New Year off with a bang we decided to dedicate a show to Women. Beautiful, creative, smart, funny, sexy, loving, warm, sweet, soft, DOPE WOMEN.

Juke joint: derived from the gullah term ''joog'' meaning rowdy and disorderly. Juke joints served as a social resolve to the daily ebb and flow of those seeking entertainment and activity after a long week. Juke joint 13: A lively excursion into the raw and soulful world of the juke joint. A world filled with excitement, unparalled fantastic music and imagery.

Luis Resto CD Release

- LUIS RESTO’S 1ST SOLO CD RELEASE PARTY “ONE SMALL LIGHT”

- PERFORMANCE OF “THE CUT”  A MULTI-MEDIA LIVE ARTWORK

(Detroit, MI)  Jazz Cafe is proud to present two public premieres featuring a Detroit music icon, the composer and performer, Luis Resto who will release his newest CD, "One Small Light" and also perform the ongoing and evolving performance piece, "The (Dequindre) Cut", Thursday, January 24th at 9PM.

“The Cut” is collaboration between musician Luis Resto and photographer Michelle Andonian.

This live multi-media performance is inspired by and visually explores the de-industrialized track that runs behind Eastern Market with music blending traditional instruments with electronic ones and an ever-evolving multi media presentation.

Highlighting this gig will be the release of Resto's first solo CD, "One Small Light" which is in spite of the CD's humble title, a far reaching offering of musical genres and styles all held together by Resto's multi faceted keyboard talent.

Two of the tracks on "Light" have also appeared on the vinyl only release of, "Combo de Momento" in 2010.

ADMISSION WILL ALSO INCLUDE THE NEW CD, “ONE SMALL LIGHT”

Latin Jazz All-Stars

(Detroit, MI)  Jazz Café welcomes back, M.F. Production's Latin Jazz All Stars for one hot and spicy night – and two shows, Saturday, January 26, 2013 with two sets  8pm and 10pm M.F. Production's Latin Jazz All Stars are a phenomenal ensemble that features the current masters of Afro Cuban, Salsa, Brazilian, and Latin Jazz. This year's version includes Jazz Cafe veterans, pianist, Arturo O'Farrill and percussionist, Chembo Corniel who have each headed their own groups here, are joined by Flautist, Nestor Torres and Steve Berrios on drums.
