Detroit born singer-songwriter Jan Krist was raised on rock, and schooled in the folk of the 60’s and 70’s. Today, Krist's work reflects the power and poetry of having matured as an artist in that place and time. Jan has twice been a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Competition, in Kerrville, Texas, and has won four Detroit Metro Music Awards. Krist performs as a solo artist, in a duo with Jim Bizer, and as part of Midwest “super group”, Diamonds in the Rust, with her husband Alan Finkbeiner, Jim Bizer, and Annie and Rod Capps. In the past few years, Cindy Frenkel's poetry has been in The New Yorker, Nu? Detroit, and Photosynthesis, a Rivkin/Mordenski collaboration, as well as in their 2023 calendar, The Art of Days. It also appeared in two anthologies, Poets Speaking to Poets, Echoes and Tributes, and Divining Dante. Her Dante sonnet was one of two poems from America selected for The Poetry Jukebox, a street art project in Dublin last year. She taught writing and literature at various colleges for more than a decade. During some of those years, she also served as a writer-in-residence for InsideOut Literary Arts Project. Her essay, "Sharing Voices, Acting Crazy," about teaching with InsideOut, is in their anthology, To Light a Fire (Wayne State University Press). "Galway Kinnell and the Blue Button-Down" was in The Southampton Review. Her most expansive piece, "15 lessons from 9 years of teaching," appeared overseas in Writing in Education with the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE). Liebler and this version of the Magic Poetry Band has reunited after 23 years to celebrate their 2001 CD Paper Ghost Raindance from Blue Boundry Records. They are planing a vinyl release of this landmark album in 2024. Ted Nagy is the Director of Aretha's Jazz Cafe and a lontime guitar player and singer-songwriter, Brigitte Knudson went on to complete here PhD and was the Principal of Lakeland High School in White Lake Twp., Lou D'Lou is longtime drummer for M.L.'s Beatles Forever Show & his new group Vinyl Matrix.
