Jazz Café proudly presents Saxophonist and composer Benny Golson is one of the only remaining performers from Jazz’s Golden Age and writer of many classic Jazz tunes, notably, “I Remember Clifford.” In addition many of Golson's compositions have become jazz standards. Songs such as "Stablemates," "Killer Joe," "Whisper Not," "Along Came Betty," and "Are You Real?" have been performed and recorded many times by other musicians.

 

Godson also composed music for such television shows as Mannix, Ironside, Room 222, M*A*S*H, The Partridge Family and Mission: Impossible.

 

At 87, he brings his Hard Bop swing to Detroit’s finest Jazz room, Jazz Cafe on Thursday, February 2nd with his Quartet in the most intimate setting and best sounding small room in the US.

 

As Jazz Café enters into it’s second decade of bringing world class Jazz, R & B and Fusion into an intimate environment which is second to none in Detroit for ambiance, sound and star power.
